Mariners Edge Brewers 1-0 Behind Raleigh Blast and Gilbert Gem

Cal Raleigh Powers Mariners Past Brewers to Snap 11-Game Win Streak

Seattle rides elite pitching and a solo shot to seal a 1-0 win

SEATTLE (AP) – It took one swing from Cal Raleigh and a brilliant outing from Logan Gilbert to do what no team had done in almost two weeks — beat the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers. Raleigh’s major league-leading 39th home run and Gilbert’s 6 1/3 shutout innings led the Seattle Mariners to a narrow 1-0 victory Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park, halting Milwaukee’s impressive 11-game winning streak.

Raleigh, who hadn’t homered since July 11, crushed a high fastball from Brewers right-hander Nick Mears deep over the right field wall in the seventh inning. The switch-hitting catcher, already this season’s All-Star Home Run Derby champion, once again showed why he's one of baseball’s premier power threats behind the plate.

But the night belonged just as much to the pitchers. Logan Gilbert (3-3) was masterful, flirting with perfection through four innings and finishing with 10 strikeouts and no walks on just 86 pitches. He allowed only two singles and left the mound in the seventh to a standing ovation from the Seattle faithful.

On the other side, Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski was electric, racking up seven strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings in just his second career start. While Misiorowski kept the Mariners at bay early, Raleigh’s blast off Mears (1-3) was the only offense Seattle would need.

Key Moment:
Closer Andrés Muñoz made things dramatic in the ninth. After walking William Contreras and Jackson Chourio, Muñoz regained control to strike out Isaac Collins and induce a groundout from Andrew Vaughn to seal his 22nd save of the season.

Key Stat:
Milwaukee’s 11-game streak was the second-longest in MLB this year, behind only the Minnesota Twins’ 13-game run in May.

🔜 Up Next:

  • Brewers: RHP Quinn Priester (8-2, 3.33 ERA)

  • Mariners: RHP Luis Castillo (7-5, 3.21 ERA)

Game 3 of the series promises another thrilling matchup between two playoff contenders.
