Minnetonka Girls Basketball Coach Steps Away After Student Dispute Involving ‘Derogatory Words’
MINNETONKA, Minn. (WCCO) - The lead trainer of Minnetonka High School's young ladies b-ball group is venturing away after an episode including "allegations of terrible and slanderous words," a school representative said.
Varsity lead trainer Leah Dasovich won't mentor the rest of the period, school authorities said.
"For the wellbeing and prosperity of our understudy competitors, as well with respect to that of my family, I have settled on the hard choice to step away for the rest of the year as head young ladies ball mentor," Dasovich said in an explanation. "I need to impart to our understudy competitors and their folks that while the present circumstance and choice are annihilating for myself as well as my family, our understudy competitors have the right to have a solid and safe completion to their season."
Dasovich is additionally an educator in the locale, and a representative affirmed she stays in that job.
In an email to understudies and families, Minnetonka High School Principal Jeff Erickson said "there was a debate between a portion of our understudies - which has now circled and been filled via web-based media - including allegations of destructive and offensive words."
Erickson added that school authorities will "keep on managing what is going on with the understudies in question and their families."
"I ask that any remaining understudies and guardians venture back and permit us to work intimately with those engaged with the circumstance and to not cause allegations or suspicions concerning what you to accept could have unfolded for sure activities the organization might be taking or not taking," Erickson said. Almost two dozen understudies from different schools fought external Minnetonka High School for a very long time Wednesday.
