Barty sees off challenge from US teenager

Debris Barty has won her first singles match of 2022, conquering a firm test from US youngster Coco Gauff to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 in a series of 16 conflict at the Adelaide International.
"I felt like I improved and better as the match continued," Barty said, crediting the Adelaide fans for uncovering her from underneath a subsequent set opening.
"When you all raised your voice a tad it was loads of fun."
That yell out prompted the group clearing their throats again for monstrous cheers.
Previous Aussie star Jelena Dokic was dazzled with Barty's versatility.
"That will give her a ton of certainty going into the remainder of the late spring," Dokic said on Nine and Stan Sport.
"This could be the way in to her mid year and the Australian Open."
In the interim the 17-year-old Gauff - currently the world No.21 - without a doubt has a splendid future.
"To push the world No.1 like that... we will see a great deal more of her," Dokic said.
