'It is ridiculous. What are you teaching the youngsters?': Waqar slams Langer for praising Warner's double-bouncer six

Previous Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis has condemned Australia mentor Justin Langer's applause for David Warner's twofold bouncer six which he hit off Mohammad Hafeez in the second semi-last of the T20 World Cup 2021 among Australia and Pakistan. Astonishing the eighth, the ball got out of Hafeez's hands and as it arrived at Warner on two bobs, the Australia opener smoked it for six.

While Warner's choice to hit a six was met with blended responses, with the entire 'soul of cricket' coming being referred to, Waqar feels the batsman was in his entitlement to do anything he desired, yet cautioned that it ought not be advanced as he sets an awful model for youths watching the game.

"It's fine. It was legitimate. He reserved the option to hit it and he did. That is all around great. In any case, advancing it isn't right. The manner in which Justin Langer adulated it by making statements like 'Splendid common sense, I've seen nothing like this on the cricket pitch'… that is ludicrous. That isn't right. What are you showing the young children? Fine, it is your attitude… you play the manner in which you need to yet don't show the young people," Waqar said on A Sports.

Reviewing a past occurrence, Waqar said it was anything but an unexpected seeing Langer commend it. During a Test match among Pakistan and Australia in Hobart in 1999, Waqar uncovered how Langer didn't stroll in spite of edging the ball yet all things being equal, a couple of days after the fact conceded to have scratched it.

"Justin Langer has this set of experiences. In a Test match during the 1990s, we played an exceptionally renowned Test match at Hobart. We were near the precarious edge of dominating the Test game yet when he scratched the ball, he didn't walk. Furthermore, it was the greatest scratch I had at any point heard," Waqar said.

"He conceded 2 after 3 days. I stopped for a moment to talk with him at one of the capacities and he said 'gracious, there was a tick in there. I said 'don't give me that refuse'. He consented to it. What are you attempting to advance?"
