University of Ottawa Gee-Gees football player dies after game
Francis Perron, 25, was a cautious lineman and mechanical designing understudy
The University of Ottawa says one of its football players kicked the bucket not long after the group's season opener in Toronto on Saturday.
Francis Perron of Sherbrooke, Que., began playing for the Gee-Gees in 2017. An assertion from college president Jacques Frémont didn't make reference to a reason for death.
Perron, a 25-year-old mechanical designing understudy, had been named a scholarly all-Canadian in 2018 and 2019.
"A splendid, energetic, and caring individual, Francis emptied himself into his specialty as a player and his scholastic quest for turning into a designer. In the homeroom, he was as large of a star as on the field," Frémont composed.
"Our hearts are broken," lead trainer Marcel Bellefeuille wrote in a tweet. "We've lost a remarkable individual, colleague, player and veteran pioneer that improved us inside and out,"
Bellefeuille said he's thinking about the school's games and designing local area, and said backing will be accessible for anybody feeling overpowered.
A remembrance will be held in the coming weeks, the school's leader said. The group's next game is planned for this Saturday at Queen's.
